The Hickory Grove Christian Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 14th straight defeat. They took a serious blow against SouthLake Christian Academy, falling 79-47. Hickory Grove Christian was down 61-34 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Despite the loss, Hickory Grove Christian saw an underclassman step up: Brent Banks scored 14 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Barack Jones, who scored ten points.
Hickory Grove Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost 17 of their last 18 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-20 record this season. As for SouthLake Christian Academy, their win ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hickory Grove Christian will square off against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Metrolina Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. SouthLake Christian Academy is on the road again on Thursday and plays the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st. Northside Christian Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than zero points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
