The Baltic Bulldogs won the last time they faced the Beresford Watchdogs, and things went their way on Thursday too. Baltic came out on top against Beresford by a score of 58-45. Given Baltic's advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Beresford is ranked 92nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Baltic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kellen Artz led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jack Erickson, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Baltic and bumps their season record up to 6-2. As for Beresford, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6.
Baltic won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Flandreau at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Beresford won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against McCook Central/Montrose on January 5th.
