After losing to the Delta Panthers the last time they met, the Steamboat Springs Sailors decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Steamboat Springs strolled past Delta with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 62-48. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Steamboat Springs.
Steamboat Springs was led to victory by Jeffrey Sturges and Cole Campbell. Sturges scored 18 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Campbell dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Campbell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brandon Kolb, who scored seven points.
Delta lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Clayton Cryer, who scored 11 points. Tucker Johnson was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
The victory got Steamboat Springs back to even at 9-9. As for Delta, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Steamboat Springs will take on Aspen at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Aspen will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something Steamboat Springs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Delta, they will head out on the road to take on Montrose at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Delta will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Montrose is ranked 48th).
