Basketball Recap: Neuse Charter Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

It was a proper cat-fight when Neuse Charter challenged Hobbton on Friday. The game between the Neuse Charter Cougars and the Hobbton Wildcats didn't end well, with the Neuse Charter Cougars falling 70-54. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Neuse Charter's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shaeem Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Williams a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Klayton Tew, who posted 12 points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Neuse Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Richard Simpson went supernova for Hobbton, putting up 25 points. Another player making a difference was Deonte Darden, who put up 13 points.

Neuse Charter's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8. As for Hobbton, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.

Neuse Charter has already played their next match (against Lakewood), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Hobbton is taking a road trip to take on Jones at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hobbton is facing Jones at the right time seeing as Jones is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
