Mitchell won the last time they faced Trinity Academy, and things went their way on Friday, too. Mitchell captured a comfortable 44-25 win over Trinity Academy.
Mitchell's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 25 points in the first half. Trinity Academy came up with 9 to make it 25-9 heading into the break. The offense for Mitchell continued to do well in the second half, scoring another 19 points to put the game away.
The loss shouldn't obscure the performances of senior Landon Miller, who rushed for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns, and junior Noah Pitman, who picked up 64 yards on the ground and threw 2 TDs. In fact, with 13 tackles Miller was a force on both sides of the ball. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse junior Matthew Gilbert, who racked up 10 tackles. The game pushed Trinity Academy down to 1-2 and pulled Mitchell up to the reverse 2-1.
Mitchell will look to defend their home turf next week against McDowell at 7:30 PM. As for Trinity Academy, they will face off against Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy.
