Trinity Catholic hasn't had much luck against Bishop Moore recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Trinity Catholic Celtics will take on the Bishop Moore Hornets at 6:00 p.m. Trinity Catholic's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Bishop Moore's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Tuesday, Trinity Catholic narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past South Sumter 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Celtics.
Caylee Barbe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on zero hits and racked up ten Ks. That's the first time she hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kristina Fogelman, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Kinley Forsyth also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Moore). Everything went their way against Celebration on Monday as Bishop Moore made off with a 19-2 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Hornets with their most commanding win of the season.
Riley Johnson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Johnson was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Bishop Moore got a massive performance out of Ariana Lara, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Lara has been hot recently, having also posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sabrina Griffin, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Bishop Moore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in five consecutive games.
Trinity Catholic's record now sits at 7-5. As for Bishop Moore, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5.
