Basketball Recap: Meeteetse Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Johnathan Ogden and Max Potas

Meeteetse was the 38-25 winner over Little Snake River when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Meeteetse Longhorns took a 55-36 bruising from the Little Snake River Rattlers on Saturday. The Longhorns' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Max Potas and Johnathan Ogden certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Potas posted 17 points and eight rebounds, while Ogden put up seven points in addition to five assists and three steals. Potas' morning made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Little Snake River's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marcos Marquez, who had nine points along with six boards and five steals. Marquez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bridger Cozzens, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 10 points and five rebounds.

Meeteetse's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Little Snake River, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Meeteetse will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Burlington at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025. Meeteetse is facing Burlington at the right time seeing as Burlington is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Little Snake River, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-33 defeat against Upton on the 21st.
