On Thursday, The Desert Pines Jaguars faced the Coronado Cougars in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Desert Pines' tough 35-12 loss to Coronado might stick with them for a while. Having soared to a lofty 33 points in the game before, Desert Pines couldn't push the score so high this time.
Aj Stowers threw for 160 yards and a touchdown. Tyrik Sim'eus was his top target, picking up 64 receiving yards. On the ground, Quinten Larry rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown.
Aiden Krause was the offensive standout of the match as he threw for 293 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyler Jackson, who gained 84 total yards and two touchdowns.
Desert Pines' loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Coronado, their victory bumped their record up to 5-5.
Desert Pines does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Coronado will be staying on the road on November 3rd to face off against Bishop Gorman at 6:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Bishop Gorman is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
