Baseball Recap: Lake Region Extends Winning Streak to Four

Lake Region had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Lakeland Dreadnaughts as they made off with an 11-4 win. This was a revenge game for the Thunder: when they faced off against the Dreadnaughts back in February, they had to take a 7-4 loss.

Lake Region got a massive performance out of Gage Calcutt, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Calcutt is becoming a predictor of Lake Region's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 5-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Dan Colon, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Calcutt wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Lake Region kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive games.

The victory got Lake Region back to even at 9-9. As for Lakeland, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-10.

Looking ahead, Lake Region will head out on the road to challenge Bartow at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakeland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against George Jenkins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
