Kiera Swartz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Swartz was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jaeden Antonelli was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Beers, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Whippany Park lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Randolph fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Morris Knolls on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 4-2. The Rams' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.
Breanna Colburn spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Autumn Liebhauser made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Hayley Arigo was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.
The victory got Whippany Park back to even at 7-7. As for Randolph, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
Randolph's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Whippany Park hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. It's a different story for Randolph, though, as they've only averaged .249. Will they be able to contain Whippany Park's hitters?
Whippany Park came out on top in a nail-biter against Randolph when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
