Basketball Recap: Graphics Extends Winning Streak to Four

Graphics had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 67-53 win over the Norman Thomas Tigers. Given Graphics' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while Norman Thomas is ranked 387th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Norman Thomas' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Chris Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 boards, and Xavier Joaquin, who went 9 of 21 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Abdullah Syllah, who posted six points.

Graphics' victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Norman Thomas, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Graphics will welcome Rustin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Norman Thomas, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-68 win against West 50th Street on the 8th.
