The Palmyra Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their tenth straight loss. They fell just short of Pawnee City by a score of 53-51. Palmyra was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pawnee City apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Drew Erhart, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Erhart has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Gou Kamishita was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Pawnee City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jett Farwell out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Kling, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Palmyra's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Pawnee City, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palmyra will take on Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer is ranked 251st, while Palmyra is ranked 230th). As for Pawnee City, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Southern.
