The Martin Tigers won the last time they faced the Nixon Mustangs, and things went their way on Friday too. Martin pulled ahead with a 28-27 photo finish over Nixon. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Martin.
Nixon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was RAY GONZALEZ, who threw for 223 yards and three touchdowns. GONZALEZ is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emiliano Hernandez, who gained 82 total yards and a touchdown.
Martin has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Nixon, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4.
Martin will head out on the road to face off against Miller at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Miller will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line. Nixon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
