Baseball Recap: Suwannee Drops Highest Score of Season Against Florida State University High School

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Suwannee). Everything went their way against the Florida State University High School Seminoles on Friday as Suwannee made off with a 14-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Dillon Greene made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs.

In other batting news, Suwannee let Jace Moran and Noah Lopez run wild. Moran scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances, while Lopez scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. That's the most runs Lopez has posted since back in March of 2024. Koy Frier was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances.

Suwannee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Suwannee's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Florida State University High School, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Suwannee will head out to face off against North Florida Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Florida State University High School, they will venture away from home to square off against Rickards at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
