Basketball Game Preview: Dallas Christian Chargers vs. Shelton Chargers

Dallas Christian is 6-0 against Shelton since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Dallas Christian Chargers are taking a road trip to take on the Shelton Chargers at 7:30 p.m. Dallas Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Having struggled with nine defeats in a row, Dallas Christian turned things around against Bishop Gorman on Saturday. They came out on top against the Crusaders by a score of 65-54. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Chargers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1004th, while the Crusaders are ranked 320th).

Quintin Hankins and Cason Walker were among the main playmakers for Dallas Christian as the former went 8 of 16 en route to 20 points along with eight rebounds and five assists and the latter went 7 of 10 en route to 16 points and four steals. Those five assists gave Hankins a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Vernon Davis, who posted six points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Shelton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past All Saints Episcopal 52-50.

Shelton has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Dallas Christian, their record now sits at 8-15.

Everything went Dallas Christian's way against Shelton when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Dallas Christian made off with an 82-56 victory. Does Dallas Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Shelton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
