The Christian Collegiate Academy Bulldogs and the Newton County Academy Generals squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Christian Collegiate Academy Bulldogs had to settle for second. Christian Collegiate Academy fell to Newton County Academy 62-56. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (50), Christian Collegiate Academy still had to take the loss.
It was another big night for Hunter Scarbrough, who rushed for 291 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also picked up 79 receiving yards. Scarbrough has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Thrash, who threw for 129 yards and three touchdowns on only eight passes.
Christian Collegiate Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Newton County Academy, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.
Christian Collegiate Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Newton County Academy is on the road again on Friday and play against DeSoto. DeSoto will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
