After a string of five wins, the Lakeview Gators's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Winnfield by a score of 70-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Winnfield was led to victory by Decavian Duncan and Jaylon Jackson. Duncan scored 20 points along with five assists and three steals, while Jackson scored 24 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jackson has scored all season. Craig St Cyr was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five steals.
Lakeview's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-6. As for Winnfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.
Lakeview's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Ruston at 2:30 p.m. on February 17th. As for Winnfield, they will head out on the road to square off against Rosepine at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
