Whitehall-Yearling and Bexley are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Rams will host the Lions at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Bexley hadn't done well against Bishop Ready recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Lions were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Silver Knights. With that win, the Lions brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Claire Watts was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Bexley got a massive performance out of Maddy Thomas, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Thomas a new career-high. Kyra Duffee was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
Bexley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Bexley's victory bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Whitehall-Yearling, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Bexley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Whitehall-Yearling hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. It's a different story for Bexley, though, as they've only averaged .231. Will they be able to contain Whitehall-Yearling's hitters?
Whitehall-Yearling was able to grind out a solid win over Bexley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 9-5. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
