The Madison Patriots scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 76-43 blowout they got on the road against NCSSM: Morganton. That 33 points margin sets a new team best for Madison this season.
Madison's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gavin Gault, who scored 21 points along with seven assists. Another player making a difference was Jason Eighmey, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why NCSSM: Morganton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lawson Taylor. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points. That was a full 48.8% of NCSSM: Morganton's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Vedant Chanshetty was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Madison's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for NCSSM: Morganton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.
Madison's road trip will continue as they head out to face Rosman at 8:00 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Rosman focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 back in December of 2023. As for NCSSM: Morganton, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Avery County at 7:00 p.m. Avery County is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
