Just two weeks into the 2025 high school baseball season, the MaxPreps Top 25 took a hit with nine teams dropping from the rankings. Taking their place are some familiar names.
Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita) and
Mater Dei (Santa Ana) members of the Trinity League in Southern California, also moved into the MaxPreps Top 25. Santa Margarita routed previous No. 12
Harvard-Westlake (Studio City) 9-0. Mater Dei has already defeated teams from Alabama, California, Texas and Mississippi in building a 5-0 record.
Texas saw three teams drop from the rankings with
Pearland,
Johnson (San Antonio) and
Prosper dropping out after joining the rankings just last week. Three Texas teams replace them with
Kingwood,
Midland and
Fort Bend Dulles (Sugar Land) bringing undefeated records to the MaxPreps Top 25.
Other newcomers include
Harlem (Ga.), which boasts a 22-game win streak after going 38-1 last year and 10-0 to start this season.
Benton (La.) also joins after starting the season 12-1. The only loss is to
St. Louis Catholic (Lake Charles), a team it defeated twice by a combined scored of 23-0.
Corona (Calif.) maintained its No. 1 ranking with its third straight shutout to start the season. Meanwhile three Florida teams moved up to fill out the top four with IMG Academy coming in at No. 2, followed by

Section Division 1 championship while La Mirada was runner-up in the
