Aurora Christian hasn't had much luck against Chicago Christian recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Aurora Christian has given up an average of 14.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Aurora Christian took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Chicago Hope Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles had just enough and edged out Chicago Hope Academy 17-16. Considering the Eagles' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Vaila Johnson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and 11 unearned) runs off ten hits. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with four runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddie Wagner, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Madi Kossakowski was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Aurora Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 18 runs the game before, Chicago Christian was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They fell 4-1 to Marian Central Catholic.
Chicago Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Rashan, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Aurora Christian's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-14. As for Chicago Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-18.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Aurora Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. However, it's not like Chicago Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Aurora Christian suffered a grim 16-4 defeat to Chicago Christian in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
