Oxford proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 38) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Pinson Valley Indians 41-40. The win continues a trend for the Yellow Jackets in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won three in a row.
Oxford's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aj Ford led the charge by picking up 139 receiving yards and three scores. Those 139 receiving yards gave Ford a new career-high. Jay'Lin Taylor did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 134 receiving yards.
Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rico Freeman, who threw for 300 yards and four touchdowns on only 19 passes, and also rushed for 45 yards. Christian Thomas also helped out as he racked up 165 receiving yards.
