Oakwood had a senior duo take command as Rai'Miaya Winston scored 19 points and Jacee Youngblood dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Youngblood has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.
Despite the defeat, Avalon saw an underclassman step up: Brooklyn De La Garza scored 13 points. That was a full 40.6% of Avalon's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Oakwood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Avalon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-7.
