The biggest upset of the week belonged to Triplains/Brewster, who took down 73rd ranked Golden Plains, 45-36. Ryan Gfeller threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 62 yards in the win.
Weskan extended the longest winning streak in Western Kansas Liberty (8 Man) this week by beating Cheylin, 50-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Coyotes.
Samuel McKinney threw for 211 yards and three touchdowns. He went 11-19 with one interceptions.
Wade Buck was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 32 carries, he ran for 158 yards as Wheatland-Grinnell fell to the Titans. Austin Lager also contributed to the rushing game with 38 yards on the ground.
Nathan Jorgenson made the biggest impact on defense this week as Triplains/Brewster bested Golden Plains. The 5-foot-11 junior grabbed one interception.
Bermudez was the best wideout in the league this week as Travis Smith's team lost to Tony Stramel's team. Bermudez tallied seven receptions for 185 yards. Tristan Schwarz helped Golden Plains' passing attack out by catching one ball for 26 yards.
Weskan's McKinney and Hayden Walker have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Western Kansas Liberty (8 Man) in both passing and receiving yards. McKinney has thrown for 961 yards this season, while Walker has 22 catches for 562 yards. The Bulldogs' Andrew Luna leads the league in rushing yards with 982.
Golden Plains' Luna needs only 18 yards against Wallace County next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Marc Cowles' team takes on the Thunderhawks. The Coyotes are currently in first, while Wheatland-Grinnell is in third.
The Titans made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,133 from 1,269. The improvement was the result of 45-36 victory over the Bulldogs last week.
