The Hamilton County Trojans will take on the Bronson Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither Hamilton County nor Bronson posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.
Things were looking good for Hamilton County after they put the first run on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bell. The game marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Gaige Allen was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Chance Johnson also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
St. John Lutheran hit Bronson with a four-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles fell 5-2 to the Saints. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Saints recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Trey Tucker was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Tyson Petrokowski made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one run.
Hamilton County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Bronson, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Hamilton County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bronson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Hamilton County's way against Bronson in their previous matchup back in February, as Hamilton County made off with a 17-4 win. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
