The Newton Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Arp Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Newton comes in on 12 and Arp on eight.
Newton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 46-13 win over Troup. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 11 matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

Newton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kendray Porter out in front who rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns. Deldrick Samuel helped out on the ground, rushing for 121 yards and a rushing touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Newton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 416 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 177 rushing yards in 11 consecutive contests.
Newton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Samuel, Dayland Alfred, and Braylen Patterson, who each picked up one interception apiece.
Meanwhile, Arp got the win against Edgewood on Friday by a conclusive 49-28. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 144th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 291st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Arp's defense and their five sacks. Chrisden Ellis refused to say out of the backfield, picking up three sacks all by himself. Zyon Washington got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Newton's record is now 12-1. As for Arp, their record now sits at an identical 12-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Newton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 281 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Arp struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 282.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Newton against Arp when the teams last played back in November of 2017, as the team secured a 58-0 win. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
