Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Easley

The matchup between Easley and Mauldin on Monday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Green Wave came out on top against the Mavericks by a score of 15-11. The victory was nothing new for the Green Wave as they're now sitting on three straight.

Jalyn McGee made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Journey Price was a standout: she got on base in three of her six plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Payton Todd was another key player, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with three RBI and one double.

Easley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Easley back to even at 8-8. As for Mauldin, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Looking ahead, Easley will challenge T.L. Hanna at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Green Wave's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Mauldin has already played their next matchup (against Laurens), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
