Softball Recap: Laton Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

Laton lost to Alpaugh last Friday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Mustangs blew past the Buffalos 16-4. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by ten runs or more this season.

Jade Perez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Perez was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Camila Figueroa was incredible, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, two triples, and two runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Emmily Mares was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

Laton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.

Laton pushed their record up to 12-8 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.1 runs. As for Alpaugh, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.

Coming up, Laton will take on Wonderful College Prep Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Alpaugh, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 0-0 victory against the Lions on the 2nd.
