B District 2 (8 Man) recap November 5, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in B District 2 (8 Man) this week, Alex beat Cyril 56-6. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
The Pirates lost to Alex 56-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jeffery Williams was a bright spot for Cyril, as he ran for 90 yards in the loss.
Dalton James provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Allen topped Paoli. James' favorite target this week was Dakota Nickell, who caught 2 passes for 27 yards.
James was a force in the backfield as the Mustangs beat the Pugs.
James was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 302 yards as Allen lost to Allen. Colten Browning also contributed to the rushing game with 36 yards on the ground.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Oklahoma Christian Academy's Caleb Powell and Nathaniel Garner have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-10 quarterback Powell has thrown for 1,113 yards this season, while Garner has 44 catches for 1,061 yards. Cody Lewis from Geary leads the league in rushing with 1,757 yards.
Kyler Thornburg of the Matt Brand's team is just 69 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 80 carries Thornburg has put up 931 yards this year.
An important game coming up in B District 2 (8 Man) this week will be when Kenny Deaton's team takes on Fox. The Mustangs are in fourth place, while the Foxes are in second place.
Central led the league in scoring this week after putting up 68 points on Waurika. Kevin Harris ran for 256 yards and caught 1 pass for 50 yards in the win.
