Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Monterey walked away with it. They walked away with  a   3-1  victory over the Carmel Padres  on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Dores: when they faced off against the Padres  last Tuesday, they had to take a  3-0  defeat.
 Monterey had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-20, 25-23,  25-18.
Monterey has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-13 record  this season. As for Carmel, they moved to 20-12 with that  loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.
 Coming up, Monterey will challenge Harbor at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their  sixth straight  win, something the Dores surely won't give up without a fight. Carmel does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
