It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 73-44, which was the final score in Corinth Holders' tilt against Rolesville on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 524th, while the Rams are ranked 61st).
Despite the defeat, Corinth Holders had strong showings from Caleb Sandling, who shot 42% from the field to rack up 14 points, and Cam Davis, who posted eight points.
Meanwhile, Broughton beat Enloe 59-48 on Thursday. The Capitals haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Corinth Holders better focus on containing Jordan Page and Jon Bowen as the pair were huge in Broughton's win. Page dropped a double-double with 17 points and 19 boards, while Bowen went 6-for-9 on his way to 16 points. Those 19 rebounds gave Page a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of George Hatem, who put up six points.
Broughton was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They are 11-3 when they've passed the ball that well.
Broughton's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Corinth Holders, their loss dropped their record down to 1-17.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Corinth Holders has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23 boards per game. However, it's not like Broughton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
