It was a good run, but the Juab Wasps unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 63-58 defeat to they. The matchup was a 25-25 toss-up at halftime, but they was outscored by North Sanpete in the second.
Several Wasps players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austin Hopoate, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hopoate has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Braxton Hooper, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds.
It was another big night for Cole Cook, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds for North Sanpete. Cook also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Ridge Hendry was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Juab's loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3. As for North Sanpete, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Juab will be playing in front of their home fans against Canyon View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Canyon View's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for North Sanpete, they will head out on the road to face off against Delta at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Delta is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
