Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Downingtown East). They blew past the Oxford Hornets 20-6 on Thursday. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.
Sam Wendig made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. Wendig was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Baroni, who went 4-for-6 with six RBI, three runs, and two doubles. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
