Moon Valley is 0-3 against Deer Valley since February of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Moon Valley Rockets will be staying on the road to face off against the Deer Valley Skyhawks at 7:00 p.m. on December 14th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Moon Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Mingus, taking the game 66-54.
Moon Valley's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Hayden Turberville, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and seven blocks, and Kevin Gray, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. That's the first time this season that Gray scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael McArdle, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Deer Valley put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Bradshaw Mountain with points to spare, taking the game 57-41. Given Deer Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Bradshaw Mountain is ranked 79th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Moon Valley's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. As for Deer Valley, they pushed their record up to 9-0 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Moon Valley was dealt a bruising 64-32 defeat at the hands of Deer Valley in their previous meeting back in January. Can Moon Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
