If the St. Anne Cardinals were riding high off their 65-44 takedown of the Grace Christian Academy Crusaders last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. St. Anne took a 52-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westmont on Wednesday.
St. Anne lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jordan Davis, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. Davis hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Chris Link, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
St. Anne's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-12. As for Westmont, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.
St. Anne didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-52 win vs. Clifton Central on the 9th. Westmont will look to defend their home court on Monday against Westminster Christian at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Westmont is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Illinois (they are ranked 328th, while Westminster Christian is ranked 723rd).
