Northland Prep Academy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the BASIS Phoenix Firebirds at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Northland Prep Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Northland Prep Academy beat Pinon 50-44. The win was just what Northland Prep Academy needed coming off of a 74-52 loss in their prior contest.
Northland Prep Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaden Joiner out in front who scored 20 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Mortensen, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, BASIS Phoenix didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Mountainside on Friday, but they still walked away with a 42-38 victory. The victory was just what BASIS Phoenix needed coming off of a 58-29 defeat in their prior match.
Northland Prep Academy's record now sits at 10-11. As for BASIS Phoenix, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-12.
Everything came up roses for Northland Prep Academy against BASIS Phoenix when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 57-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northland Prep Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
