Fans got a thrill when Chance Foss and Charlie Sheets connected against Staunton. The connection went for 54 yards, the longest such play in South Central this season.
Greenville extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Gillespie, 59-50. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Comets.
Roxana's dynamic duo of Nick Hand and Sheets proved to be unstoppable against the Bulldogs, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hand threw for 94 yards and 2 touchdowns and Sheets had 84 yards receiving. Levi Wallace helped Roxana's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 45 yards.
Sheets was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Shells topped Staunton. The 6-foot-4 senior racked up 2 sacks.
Kinney Myles provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Carlinville bested Southwestern. Myles' favorite target this week was Thad Roberts, who caught 2 passes for 29 yards.
Mike Parmentier's team's Jake Bruhn and Marcus Sitko led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Bruhn has thrown for 579 yards this season, while Sitko has 20 catches for 315 yards. The Cavaliers' Myles leads the league in rushing yards with 1,278.
The Bulldogs are currently in fourth, while the Miners are in second.
Hillsboro moved up to 323 from 354 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in South Central. The Hilltoppers were able to move up by defeating Litchfield 42-14.
