The Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past Jupiter Christian 49-7 at home. The result was nothing new for Somerset Academy - Canyons, who have now won five contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Somerset Academy - Canyons to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tristian Johnson, who rushed for 239 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per carry. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Harrington, who threw for 265 yards and four touchdowns on only 18 passes.
Somerset Academy - Canyons' victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-6-1 Somerset Academy and 1-7 Boynton Beach (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 33% over those games). As for Jupiter Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Somerset Academy - Canyons will square off against Saint Andrew's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Saint Andrew's knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Somerset Academy - Canyons likes a good challenge. As for Jupiter Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against NSU University at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. NSU University is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
