The Cascade Cadets will take on the Edgewood Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Cascade comes in on 14 and Edgewood on six.
Cascade is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Speedway with a sharp 13-3 win. Considering the Cadets have won 13 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Lacie Godby made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Cascade let Macey Pugh and Ava Allen run wild. Pugh got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Allen went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Caitlin Gryszowka, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Cascade kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Edgewood sidestepped Northview for a 2-1 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted against the Knights since May 5, 2021.
ALLY BLAND spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 14 Ks.
Cascade's victory bumped their record up to 20-5. As for Edgewood, their win bumped their record up to 21-5.
Cascade beat Edgewood 5-2 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cadets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
