Cannon waltzed into their contest on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Covenant Day Lions. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Addie Hartz made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Jolie Matthews was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carly Benz, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Cannon hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Covenant Day struck out nine times.
