Softball Recap: Westside Comes Up Short

Westside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-12 heartbreaker at the hands of the Daniel Lions. Even though they lost, the Rams' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.9 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Ryann Sanders and Samantha Haney stepped up to the plate in a big way. Sanders scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4, while Haney scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave Haney a new career-high in hits. Starlyn Clardy was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Westside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post 11 or more hits.

Westside now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Daniel, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westside will square off against Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Daniel, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Daniel Lions challenge Crescent Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. They have given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
