The Portage Mustangs were the 66-43 winner over the Richland Rams when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Portage took a 49-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Richland. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Portage has scored all season.
Portage lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Trae Kargo, who scored 12 points along with five assists. The contest was Kargo's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Zachary Hodge was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Portage has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Richland, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.
Portage will finish 2023 at home by hosting Richland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Richland will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Portage at 7:30 p.m. Portage will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
