3A Metro - West recap October 1, 2013
Conifer's AJ Eleniewski recorded the longest rushing play in 3A Metro - West this season in his game against Lutheran last week. Eleniewski ran for 66 yards on the play and finished with 118 on the day as his team defeated the Lions.
Conifer and Lutheran played the closest game in the league this week, with Conifer eventually emerging with a 25-19 victory. Brandon Payer threw for 58 yards and ran for 97 yards in the win.
D'Evelyn's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Connor Mateer threw for 191 and 2 touchdowns and Ty McGee had 123 yards receiving. On the ground Greg Pearson contributed 149 yards. Cameron Brown helped D'Evelyn's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 38 yards.
He went 11-18 with 1 interception.
Mateer put up the best numbers in passing as the Jaguars topped Summit. Mateer's favorite target this week was McGee, who caught 4 passes for 123 yards.
D'Evelyn's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Jaguars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Mateer has thrown for 1,082 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while McGee has 28 catches for 618 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when D'Evelyn takes on Larry Fitzmaurice's team. Jeremy Bennett's team is in first place, while the Lobos are in fourth place.
The Tigers fell to the Jaguars 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
