West Bridgewater is 0-3 against Case since June of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Wildcats will take on the Cardinals at 11:00 a.m. West Bridgewater is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
West Bridgewater is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cardinal Spellman.
Brianna LaGrange made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Haylee Krakowski, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Case). They never let Bourne get on the board and left with a 30-0 win on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Cardinals with their most commanding win of the season.
Cailyn Durand and Lila Alvarez were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Durand kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Alvarez tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Durand has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Durand went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Alvarez went 2-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, Ella Preston was incredible, going a perfect 6-for-6 with five runs, five RBI, and three doubles. Makayla Garcia also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Case kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 29 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
The victory made it two in a row for Case and bumps their season record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for West Bridgewater, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
West Bridgewater's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Wildcats have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Case, though, as they've been averaging only 0.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will West Bridgewater continue to outrun the ball?
West Bridgewater might still be hurting after the 16-0 defeat they got from Case in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
