Basketball Recap: Jay Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

Jay had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Southwest Legacy Titans as they made off with a 56-36 win. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Ny'Ashia Barnes continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6-for-15 on her way to 12 points in addition to six boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikayla Garcia, who posted eight points along with three steals and three blocks.

Milagros Martinez and Garnelle Zor certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Martinez scored 12 points and five rebounds, while Zor dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards. That was a full 47.2% of Southwest Legacy's points, marking the 12th time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Jay pushed their record up to 25-9 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points over those games. As for Southwest Legacy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-24 record this season.

Jay has already played their next game, a 50-19 win against Brackenridge on the 11th. Southwest Legacy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
