Carl Hayden Community is 2-8 against Fairfax since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Falcons will challenge the Stampede at 3:45 p.m. Carl Hayden Community is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Carl Hayden Community is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game last Friday. They fell 7-2 to Glendale.
Meanwhile, Fairfax came tearing into Thursday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Bobcats get on the board and left with a 17-0 win. The Stampede might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by ten runs or more this season.
Isaiah Balderas made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexander Tovar, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Pineda, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Fairfax always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Fairfax's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Carl Hayden Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Carl Hayden Community has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Fairfax struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Carl Hayden Community might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Fairfax in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
