Basketball Recap: Foothill Drops Highest Score of Season Against Johnson

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Foothill). They claimed a resounding 84-48 win over the Johnson Warriors. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Foothill's win on Wednesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tomari Harris, who posted 14 points in addition to six steals and three blocks. The dominant performance also gave Harris a new career-high in assists (two). Another player making a difference was David Robinson, who had 11 points and seven rebounds.

Foothill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

When it comes to explaining why Johnson lost, don't look at Henok Haile. Despite the final result, he went 5 of 6 on his way to 14 points and five boards. Haile continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Javion Williams, who scored four points along with seven rebounds, six assists, and five steals.

Foothill pushed their record up to 11-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.2 points. As for Johnson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Foothill will venture away from home to challenge Florin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Foothill is facing Florin at the right time seeing as Florin is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. Johnson has already played their next game (against Fairfield), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
