It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Hueytown Golden Gophers had no problem doing just that on Monday. They strolled past the Panthers with points to spare, taking the game 68-50. Given Hueytown's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while the Panthers are ranked 339th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hueytown got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Joy Minniefield out in front who scored 29 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Na?kyrie Tolbert, who scored 17 points along with five assists and four steals.
Hueytown's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-17. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Brookwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.
Hueytown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Brookwood also has no future games currently scheduled.
