The Liberty Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 56-38 bruising from Independence. Liberty was down 48-26 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Independence's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Harmony Mills, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Mills has scored at least a third of Independence's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Wooten, who almost dropped a double-double on ten rebounds and nine steals.
Liberty dropped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Independence, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty will stay at home for another game and welcome the Golden Knights at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st. Mount View comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Independence, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lumberjacks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
