Softball Recap: Melbourne Central Catholic Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Melbourne Central Catholic barely beat Bayside the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Melbourne Central Catholic's pitcher stepped up to hand Bayside an 11-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Hustlers, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Madelynn Prayto was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Rylie Lovett was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. Dakota Cooper was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Melbourne Central Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Melbourne Central Catholic pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bayside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Melbourne Central Catholic will welcome Harmony at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bayside, they are taking a road trip to face off against Westwood at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Westwood has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.14 runs per game on average), something Bayside will no doubt try to take advantage of.
